Course description
As part of the British Canoeing certificate in coastal navigation and tidal planning, this theory course aims to support you with your planning for trips on the lake and sea. Topics include finding and interpreting weather forecasts and applying them to the marine environment, looking at swell and surf forecasting and the effects on them from the wind. The second part of the course looks at building your map for the day and then hands on navigation with the use of maps and a compass, making bearings, and working out your position.
Prerequisites
An interest in learning the theory behind our journeying on the Sea.
What to bring
Writing materials and notebook and something for lunch.
