A Kayak Adventure on Lake Brienz for Families
Our Family Tour is all about having fun! Half a day of adventure and games with your family, all of you in kayaks on the turquoise blue Lake Brienz. Get ready for some unforgettable memories you’re going to make while challenging each other to a friendly splashing game or paddle chase and discovering some hidden beaches and cliffs along the way.

Who's it for?
If you’re looking to take your family on a fun half-day adventure packed with games and challenges, this experience is perfect for you. We recommend this tour for families with children aged 5 - 15, who would like to explore one of Switzerland's most beautiful lakes directly from the seat of a kayak, try different tricks, such as testing the balance while standing up, or going for a little swim at a hidden beach.
Effort level
Easy and beginner-friendly. Our experienced guides will tailor the family session to your level of strength and paddling skills, while making sure there’s plenty of room for games and splashing along the way. We use stable Sit-on-top kayaks for smaller family members, who will share a kayak with an adult.
Participants of this tour don't need any kayaking experience and don't have to be confident swimmers (buoyancy aids/life jackets are provided). We will take care of you and make sure your family feels safe and has the time of their life.

- Buoyancy aid/life jacket, depending on swimming ability
- Wetsuit and jacket during cold days
- Free photos and videos (sent immediately after the tour)

What to bring
- Quick-drying swimwear or sportswear. Wear a swimsuit or moisture-wicking shorts/tops (e.g., made of synthetic fabrics such as polyester, not cotton). You are likely to get splashed with water or dip in the lake.
- Towel
- Sports sandals, flip-flops, Crocs, or water shoes (optional)
- Sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat)
What not to bring
- Phones and expensive cameras can — and do — easily slip into the lake. If they do, you won’t be able to recover them from the bottom of Lake Brienz, which reaches depths of up to 260 metres (850ft). It's best to leave valuables safely in the lockers and enjoy the free photos and videos taken by your guide.

Tour Highlights
We start at our base in Bönigen and paddle close to the shore, past small bays and pebble beaches. Along the way, we stop for some fun – simple games, a bit of splashing around, and a swim, conditions permitting. If the day and the group’s ability allow, we may also cross the lake towards the majestic cliffs on the other side, where we can gently paddle along the beautiful shoreline.
Weather conditions
The tours take place in almost all weather conditions, even in the rain. If the tour cannot take place, you will receive a full refund, or you can postpone your tour. Further details can be found here.

No, the family fun tour is specifically for children accompanied by adults. Unaccompanied children are not permitted to join the group.
This tour is exclusively for families with children. To maintain a child-focused atmosphere, we do not accept bookings from adults without children for this specific activity.
If you are looking to kayak without kids, we recommend booking our Summer Kayak Tour or renting a kayak/SUP to enjoy the lake on your own.

Directions: How to Find Us
Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled tour start time. Our start times are coordinated 5 minutes after the arrival of the public bus outside, so there is no need to come earlier.
Yes, there is public parking on Parkstrasse in Bönigen with a few minutes’ walk to the base. The public parking areas are payable.
Yes, we have plenty of lockers available, and they are included in the tour and rental price. The lockers are large enough for backpacks and shoes. If you have bigger suitcases or other luggage, we can store those safely for you as well.
Kayaking is fun in any weather. You will be surprised how nice it is to kayak in rain. Nature is all the more dramatic and the drops of water on the lake make the experience even more unique. The expectations are often lower and, in the end, all the more positive. Trust us, it’s still going to be great. During thunderstorms or very strong winds we may have to cancel or delay tours for safety reasons.
