SUP Skills & Fun

What to expect

Our SUP Skill & Fun activity is suitable for all abilities. We start in Bönigen on Lake Brienz and during the first hour we will provide you useful tips and tricks on how to best find your balance on your board, use your paddle efficiently, get back safely on the board if you fall, turn, etc. Depending on your individual level and progression we would also cover more advance tips like, pivot turns, paddling straight, different paddle strokes, etc. We will also play some fun games to put some of the skills into practice

After about one hour coached session you are welcome to practice on your own or do a small tour. You would need to be back after a total of 3 hours from the start of the activity.

The coached session will be done in small group sizes (6:1 ratio of clients to coach) and in order for a session to run we would need at least 2 participants. If the session does not take place, we would either try to find another suitable time or date or give you a full refund. Of course, if the coached session does not take place you can also just rent our SUPs.

If the dates or times you require are not available, please get in touch and we can see if they would be possible.

What’s included

Experienced coach with small group sizes (6:1 ratio of clients to coach), and up to 3 hours of top quality equipment SUP rental.

Our tours are well suited for beginners as well as for non-swimmers, you do not need to have previous experience. Minimum age 12 years. For families with children in the age of 5-12 years we recommend our Family Fun tours which are also possible to arrange on SUPs by prior arrangement.

Where to meet/How to find us

Hightide Kayak School, Am Quai 1, 3806 Bonigen (opposite the Bönigen See bus stop).

If you are staying in Interlaken, Hightide Kayak School is a short bus ride away (no. 103, direction Iseltwald). This bus is free with your guest card and runs every 30 minutes from Interlaken Ost or West. Alternatively, if you would prefer to drive, there is free parking situated behind the Hotel Seiler au Lac next door to our office.

If you are feeling active, it is also possible to take a short 30 minute walk from Interlaken Ost along the river to our base in Bönigen.

Please note that our activities run in all weather conditions provided that it is safe to be on the lake and paddle. Often the weather is better than forecast and part of the charm of our sport is experiencing nature in all the elements - even on a rainy day, the views and atmosphere are beautiful and dramatic. We pride ourselves on having top quality equipment, including Palm wetsuits and high-end paddle jackets to ensure that you are warm and happy whatever the weather. If conditions are unsafe to paddle in we aim to notify you as soon as the decision has been made and we will try to re-schedule for the soonest opportunity.

Please note that bookings are subject to our terms and conditions and cancellation policy. We recommend that you have an insurance policy to cover the course costs in case of illness or medical problems. Swiss residents can purchase annual AXA cancellation insurance at the time of booking.
