The Paddle Trail offers a new portal to this stunning lake region with at its heart, the rental of Kayaks and Canoes from and between our three locations of Bönigen, Iseltwald and Brienz. The fantastic paddling, combined with fantastic outdoor opportunities, activities and attractions allow you to explore under your own steam and showcase the very best of lake and mountain scenery and active lifestyle.
The Lake of Brienz is a perfect destination to be based for your weekends, holidays or events with a large number of activities and attractions to keep you busy. Our paddletrail.ch homepage will provide you with the inspiration for an action packed visit based around the four partner villages and the possibilities to combine kayaking or canoeing with paddlesteamer cruises, dramatic waterfalls, stunning mountain vistas and lakeside hikes, cycles, exhillerating biking, adrenaline filled white water rafting, 360 degree spin Jetboat rides, historic steam railways, motor boat rentals, relaxing lidos and a fascinating open air museum to add into the mix. Once tired from the day we can recommend cosy places to stay around the lake and fine dining experiences.
We have a fleet of rental kayaks available for hire. Depending on your ability and prior experience we have something for everyone. For those new to kayaking, we offer single and double sit on tops. These are perfect for beginners, new to the sport, who wish to get out and explore the beautiful Lake Brienz and experience paddling for the first time.
Please contact us with your request and we will be happy to reserve the kayaks for you. Cost of rental includes paddle and buoyancy aid.
* A CHF50 (or total value if under CHF50) non-refundable deposit per boat is required for an advance reservation.
* It is possible to rent and drop off the kayaks in different locations with a surcharge of CHF30 per boat
Please note that we also offer half day tours which are suitable for beginners and provides you with a guide who can offer tuition on paddling technique. The qualified guide can give you a tour of the local area and will also take photographs to share with you via dropbox at the end of the session. *When the water temperature drops below 15 degrees or if you are susceptible to the cold, we recommend wearing a wetsuit or drysuit. We have wetsuits to hire in all sizes and these provide a comfortable additional layer to help keep you warm. In addition we have high-quality hooded paddle jackets and dry bags which can be booked for an additional fee on the booking page.

By Public Transport
Bus 103 from Interlaken Trainstation Ost or West to Bönigen See (direction Iseltwald). Runs at :05 & :35 throughout the day taking 5 - 10mins. Check your times at http://www.sbb.ch/fahrplan.html. Short walk (3mins) from the Busstop to the Strandbad. This bus is free with your guest card and runs every 30 minutes from Interlaken Ost or West.
Direction to Interlaken
Take the A8 to Interlaken. Exit at Bönigen, turn left on to Hauptstrasse and take the first exit at the roundabout on to Interlakenstrasse. After the bridge turn right in to Lütschinenstrasse. You will find a small parking area at the end of the road.
Direction to Brienz
Take the A8 to Interlaken and Exit at A26 Interlaken Ost. Follow the signs to Bönigen. When you get to the bridge turn left in to Lütschinenstrasse. You will find a small parking area at the end of the road.
From Interlaken Ost follow the signs to the boats. Turn right at the river and follow it along the trail signs towards Bönigen. Turn right after the camping sight and walk to the end of the road (around 35mins).
Please note that our courses and tours run in all weather conditions provided that it is safe to paddle. Often the weather is better than forecast and part of the charm of our sport is experiencing nature in all the elements - even on a rainy day, the views and atmosphere are beautiful and dramatic. We pride ourselves on having top quality equipment, including Palm wetsuits and high-end paddle jackets to ensure that you are warm and happy whatever the weather. If conditions are unsafe to paddle in we aim to notify you as soon as the decision has been made and we will try to re-schedule for the soonest opportunity.
Please note that bookings are subject to our terms and conditions and cancellation policy. We recommend that you have an insurance policy to cover the course costs in case of illness or medical problems. Swiss residents can purchase annual AXA cancellation insurance at the time of booking.
