Lake Brienz Improver Weekend

Description

As with our other weekend trips, the lake Brienz Improver weekend is aimed at people who’ve attending one of our sea kayak skills courses or something similar elsewhere or you have prior experience in a sea kayak.  

The two day trip goes right around the lake, with the first day following the north shore past Ringgenberg, Niederried and Oberried to the woodcarving town of Brienz and the second day along the wilder southern shore with Giessbach, towering cliffs and Iseltwald as hightilights.   Lake Brienz is one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland renowned for its turquoise colour, being close to nature and surrounded by mountains and makes an amazing two day trip with possibilities to camp or stay in a hotel in Brienz.

The session starts at 9.15am and ends at 4.15pm. Should you have any further requests or require additional information please feel free to contact us.

What’s included

Experienced coach with small group sizes (6:1 ratio of clients to coach), top quality equipment including neoprenes and jackets if needed, photograph package of your time with us on the lake.

What to bring with you

Swimming wear, a quick drying t-shirt for under the wetsuit, sunglasses, sunhat, sun cream, footwear to be worn in the water (crocs for example), change of clothes, drinks and snacks.

Accommodation

We recommend camping but it is possible to stay in B&B or the youth hostel in Brienz or if you’d like to stay back in Bönigen, the hotel Oberländerhof has very reasonable rooms and great hospitality.

Where to meet/How to find us

Hightide Kayak School, Am Quai 1, 3806 Bonigen (opposite the Bönigen See bus stop).

If you are staying in Interlaken, Hightide Kayak School is a short bus ride away (no. 103, direction Iseltwald). This bus is free with your guest card and runs every 30 minutes from Interlaken Ost or West. Alternatively, if you would prefer to drive there is free parking situated behind the Hotel Seiler au Lac next door to our office.

If you are feeling active, it is also possible to take a short 30 minute walk from Interlaken Ost along the river to our base in Bönigen.

When

Our current availability can be seen through the “book now” button. If you can’t find your dates, please write and we’ll do what we can to fit you in.

Weather

Please note that our courses and tours run in all weather conditions provided that it is safe to paddle. Often the weather is better than forecast and part of the charm of our sport is experiencing nature in all the elements - even on a rainy day, the views and atmosphere are beautiful and dramatic. We pride ourselves on having top quality equipment, including Palm wetsuits and high-end paddle jackets to ensure that you are warm and happy whatever the weather. If conditions are unsafe to paddle in we aim to notify you as soon as the decision has been made and we will try to re-schedule for the soonest opportunity.

Insurance

Please note that bookings are subject to our terms and conditions and cancellation policy. We recommend that you have an insurance policy to cover the course costs in case of illness or medical problems. Swiss residents can purchase annual AXA cancellation insurance at the time of booking.

As with our other weekend trips, the lake Brienz Improver day is aimed at people who’ve attending one of our sea kayak skills courses or something similar elsewhere or you have prior experience in a sea kayak.  

Lake Brienz is one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland renowned for its turquoise colour, being close to nature and surrounded by mountains.  The day trip really showcases the best of what our region has to offer. Starting at Brienz, our journey along the whole length of this glacial mountain lake takes us past towering cliffs, the famous Giessbach falls and the pretty village of Iseltwald. Depending on conditions, there is also the option of crossing the lake from Iseltwald and continue on the north shore past cliff and the village of Ringgenberg.
