Sea Kayak Skills Weekend

Lake Brienz - Bönigen

Description

This introductory weekend intends to introduce you to the sport, improve your confidence on the water and develop your paddling skills so that you leave with a firm grounding in the essential techniques of paddling.

Amongst other things, we will look at efficient forward paddling, different methods for getting in and out of the boat and turning strokes. The two day course also gives us the luxury of re-visiting areas that you would like additional coaching in or perhaps tailor the session a little more to areas you are interested in improving or learning more about.

We will spend the majority of the first day perfecting your paddling techniques and, depending on the nature of the course, the second day will either involve a day tour on Lake Brienz or completing a safety & rescue course. The day tour will involve paddling from Brienz to Bönigen, working on our paddling skills, and also visiting the impressive Giessbach Falls. Alternatively, the rescue course (based from Bönigen) will focus on developing your confidence in the boat, teaching you how to self-rescue and also rescue others when out on the water. This is a valuable course as it gives you the skills needed to safely paddle on your own in the knowledge that you are competent in rescuing yourself and others.

Our aim is to make you as self-sufficient as possible and give you a solid grounding in the sport to enable you to go out kayaking confidently under your own steam. We also encourage you to create a personal development plan so that you can continue to practice the techniques that you have been taught on the course.

Should you have any further requests or require additional information please feel free to contact us.

We pride ourselves on having top quality equipment, including Palm wetsuits and high-end paddle jackets to ensure that you are warm and happy whatever the weather. If conditions are unsafe to paddle in we aim to notify you as soon as the decision has been made and we will try to re-schedule for the soonest opportunity.
