BC Open Canoe Award

This award moves on from the two star and builds on your skills by adapting them to the moving water environment. At this level the award then diversifies and specialises in the different paddlesport disciplines of White water, Sea and Surf Kayaking and Open Canoeing. The 3 star award shows a solid intermediate paddler who can look after themselves and who is a competent group member is their chosen discipline.

Successful completion of the 3 Star Open Canoe award indicates that the paddler can consider themselves an intermediate paddler, confident on open and easy moving water. They can do this in a competent manner as part of a led group and have the knowledge and ability to help the smooth running of a trip while being led down a section of a river with sections up to grade 2.

This is a training course and assessment takes place on an ongoing basis meaning we can pass the award upon seeing all relevant criteria set by British Canoeing. We will work together to provide feedback and an action plan to achieve the award or if successful, to take you further in your paddling.

The course day starts at 9.15am and ends at 4.15pm. Should you have any further requests or require additional information please feel free to contact us.
