This intensive 5 day course is a combination of both our preparation and our training and assessment weekends, with the added bonus of an extra day to sit the British Canoeing FSRT.
The first four days will be spent getting you set up with and fine tuning all the strokes you need to efficiently move your boat around to the level of a competent flat water paddler. The final day will then be spent working through the FSRT syllabus, where key safety and rescue skills and how to deal with common problems and emergencies will be covered. Self rescues will be practiced for river kayak, sea kayak and open canoe as well as a variety of techniques rescuing others.
As with the weekend format, we follow the BCU 2 Star syllabus covering all the interdisciplinary skills in sea kayak, river kayak and open canoe. Completion of the 2 Star Award takes you from the beginner level to a competent flat water paddler with all the essential skills to take you into moving water, whether on rivers, on the sea or in the surf. At our disposal we have performance equipment including top British design fibreglass sea kayaks, high end white water spec river boats and open canoes.
The course days start at 9.15am and end at 4.15pm. Should you have any further requests or require additional information please feel free to contact us.
